RV Southbound - Asleep for the Summer
We arrived home safely to Kingston April 20th - taking our time and stopping en route in Richmond, Va to visit Jeanie and Coleman Grandstaff and to celebrate Coleman's birthday at Hooter's (a first time experience for Coleman)! We then took two days to travel the next 1000 km back to Ontario - taking our time and enjoying the spring scenery.
All was well on our arrival at both the house and the cottage. Within a few days, Brunet's was after John to return to work as the HVAC sales manager. The offer sparked his interest and he was back to work within a few days. As for me, I started to unload the RV and to clean up debris from the winter at the house and the cottage. With such a long and stormy winter season, there is plenty of yard work to tackle.
And, after 4 years of storing the lawn furniture in the loft in the garage, we have cleared the way to get the deck set up at the house. It has been power-washed, stripped, washed again, stained and re-stained - we are ready to go for the May long weekend. We also managed to get one of the two bedrooms painted at the cottage - I'll work on the second bedroom next week - what a difference paint can make! As for the boats, the 13' Boston Whaler is already in the water and we were on the St. Lawrence last weekend for a long ride in the sunshine. This weekend, we'll also launch the Pro Line.
To top it off, we have joined the Gananoque Golf and Country Club for the season and have each played 3 times a week. I joined two ladies groups so the commitment is there for me on my own and we have managed to get another game or two in together each week.
We are putting the RV to sleep for the summer and placing the RV Southbound adventure blog 'on hold' until November/08. We are hoping to head to Texas (new experience) and Florida (can't beat the weather) - no exact plan at this point. Any travel forecasting beyond these two states will coincide with the weather patterns and the price of diesel. More later on this...
Enjoy your summer and fall - take care of your health and your family... we'll be back on line in the fall... m.
